Recycling awareness

do your part.

In consideration to the growing rate of human influence on the environment, the atmosphere, and wildlife habitat, it is more prevalent to do your part in recycling than ever before. By 2050, it is predicted that there will be 3.8 billion tons of waste produced globally. Currently in our countries recycling system, studies show that only 21% of recyclable material is collected, while 76% of recyclable are lost at the household level. Another study suggests that in the U.S. alone, 66% of individuals report to avoiding the recycling process if it is not “convenient”, as well as reported that only 9% of plastic waste is recycled. These numbers are alarming and exponential, symbolizing a need for direct action from consumers, companies, and organizations alike.

The steps necessary…

helping from home.

In the U.S., recycling is easier now than ever before. Regional recycling services are available in nearly every corner of the country and can be easily located from online databases. You can also help from home within a wide range of lifestyle changes, such as utilizing reusable bags, avoiding products that offer limited biodegradability, and making an effort to purchase products in bulk. The majority of county operated landfills in the United States also offer the potential to recycle, as your waste is then further sorted and shipped to manufacturing facilities to become a new product.
