LOADER OPERATOR

Position Summary
As a Loader Operator, you will be responsible for safely and efficiently loading raw materials, primarily various grades of wastepaper and pulp, into the pulping system. Your attention to detail and commitment to safety will be crucial in maintaining a smooth and efficient production process.
Job Duties and Responsibilities (may include but are not limited to)
Actively participates in safety initiatives, adheres to all safety rules and procedures, identifies and reports potential hazards.
Keeps the work area and surrounding areas clean, organized, and free of debris, to prevent accidents.
Operate mobile equipment, such as forklifts and front-end loaders, to move and load bales or rolls of wastepaper and pulp into the pulper.
Inspect raw materials for contaminants (e.g., plastic, metal) and remove them before loading to prevent damage to equipment and ensure pulp quality.
Weigh and record the amount of material loaded into the pulper according to production requirements.
Ensure the pulper is loaded in a manner that promotes efficient processing and prevents blockages.
Monitor the pulping process and communicate any issues or inconsistencies to the Pulper Operator or Shift Supervisor.
Maintain a clean and organized work area around the pulper and loading docks, including removing debris and ensuring safe walkways.
Perform basic equipment checks and report any maintenance needs or safety concerns.
Assist with other tasks as needed within the production area, as directed by the Pulper Operator or Shift Supervisor.
Follow standard operating procedures (SOPs) and work instructions.
Identify and report any potential safety hazards.
Be willing to learn and adapt to different tasks and responsibilities.
Contribute to continuous improvement efforts within the production process.
Communicate effectively with other team members, including supervisors, quality control personnel, and other operators, to ensure smooth workflow and address any issues.
Works effectively as part of a team, demonstrating cooperation and respect for coworkers.
Must be willing and able to work rotating shifts, including days, nights, weekends, and holidays, as paper mills typically operate 24/7.
Participate in safety meetings and training sessions.
Participate in training programs to enhance job skills and knowledge.
Assist in other areas of the production line as required.
Education, Certifications, and Experience
High school diploma or GED.
Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation.
Forklift certification.
Previous experience operating forklifts or other mobile equipment is required.
Experience in a manufacturing or industrial environment is a plus.
Ability to perform physical tasks, including lifting and maneuvering materials.
Experience operating industrial machinery.
Experience in a paper mill or with converting equipment is preferred.

Work Conditions and Physical Requirements
Must be able to work in a paper mill environment which may involve exposure to noise, temperature variations (cold, heat, and humidity), dust, and chemicals.
Ability to perform physically demanding tasks, including lifting up to 50 lbs., walking, climbing, stooping, pushing, and pulling for extended periods (up to 12-hour shifts).
Must be able to wear required personal protective equipment (PPE).
Great manual dexterity and hand-eye coordination.
