GMC ROOFING & BUILDING

SHAFTER, CALIFORNIA

GMC Roofing and Paper Products not only acted as Mathew’s first collaborative company, but solidified his permanence within the paper industry on the west coast. In partnership with Chris DiSalvo and Glenn Passmore, Chakola spent the majority of 2000 and 2001 engineering the saturating plant that now produces more than 50 million dollars in roofing material each year. This decision would unknowingly spark inspiration for Chakola’s California Paper Company nearly a decade later.

GMC being within 200 yards of our California facility provides an extensive range of benefits regarding transportation, supply and demand, and product consistency. With GMC being a direct consumer of the products produced by CPP, we are able to establish a consistent consumer of our product and ensure the necessity of incoming recyclables for manufacturing use. This location also eliminates transportation costs regarding shipping and receiving, as one of our largest consumers are right across the street.
